HAND CRAFTED DETAIL: The world’s ‘most asked for’ horses since 1950. Each individual Breyer model is prepped and finished by hand and then turned over to the painting department for hand painting and detailing. In all, some 20 artisans work on each individual model horse, creating an exquisite hand-made model horse that is as individual as the horse that inspired it. 5. TRUE EQUESTRIAN ART: Breyer models begin as beautiful horse sculptures created by leading equine artists that are then cast into a copper and steel mold. Each model is created one at a time from the original mold, which is injected with a special resin selected by Breyer for its ability to capture the depth of detail, delicate feel and richness of color in our models.

The Ideal Series: A Collection Inspired by the Art of Orren Mixer – Palomino
The Ideal Series pays homage to the stunning artwork of renowned equine artist Orren Mixer (1920-2008) and his most popular subjects horses! Each hand-painted piece in this series was inspired by one of Mixer�s famed ideal horse breed paintings.
Born in 1920 in Oklahoma, Orren Mixer is best known for his gorgeous artwork featuring Western scenes, livestock, and horses. After years working as a graphic artist and serving in the Navy, he returned home to Oklahoma and built his art studio. He rose to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s, and his artwork graced the covers of many well-known magazines, including Western Horseman. Over the course of his career, seven horse breed associations commissioned him to paint their breed�s ideal. These images are still used today, and have forever cemented Mixer�s place as one of history�s preeminent equine artists.
In 1991, the Palomino Horse Breeders of America commissioned Mixer to create a painting commemorating the organization�s 50th anniversary. Mixer created a gorgeous painting of a proud palomino stallion with the breed�s trademark gold coin coat color in a lush pastoral background.
He also famously depicted palominos in several other paintings, including portraits of famous palominos Cutter Bill, Diamonds Sparkle, and Shining Spark.
Mixer was given the PHBA�s President�s Special Service Award in recognition of his work.
